Well quite often I begin this blog by talking about the weather, we are British after all… We have had so much rain from the end of last week and through the weekend. It’s quite staggering, the weather seems to be so extreme. We are able to school the horses on the grass at the moment which is a plus. Hattaab will be schooling over fences this week.

The rain means better racing ground, the ground at Uttoxeter today is ‘good to soft’. This is good news for our jumpers. Today we run two horses there.

FLEETING VISIT runs in the 3:10 Handicap Hurdle under Kielan. This looks like a very competitive race, lots of winners in the field. Fleeting Visit is well and was a good winner on his last run at Southwell. He returned from a long absence to run consistently well on the flat before going back over hurdles and winning on his return to obstacles.  He tries three miles for the first time, will he stay? Today we’ll find out.

HOMING STAR is a horse that wants better ground, she ran over hurdles during the very wet winter and didn’t manage to get close to winning. She came back in during lockdown and has been running on the flat. She’s ran well in defeat and arguably would have been close when getting short of room at Bath in July. She returns to hurdles today and will have her ground. She is running out of the handicap, so on ratings she has 5lbs to find, Max Kendrick rides and claims 3lbs back.

Have a great week and stay safe!
