There was a lovely atmosphere in the yard this morning, the sun was shining and lots of celebrations for yesterdays double at Southwell. What an afternoon it was! Fleeting visit and The Distant Lady both got the job done and continued our good form.

Max Kendrick and Tom Bellamy replaced Kielan Woods who is currently on the sidelines. Frustrating for Kielan who is a key member of the team, Kielan has played a huge part in yesterdays success. We wish him well, he’ll be back in the winners enclosure before long.

FLEETING VISIT has been running on the flat this summer off the back of a long absence. Yesterday was his first run over hurdles in nearly two years. He has been thought of as a suspect stayer in the past but yesterday he looked like a horse that got every yard. He showed a fantastic attitude, getting up on the run in. Max was keeping him up to his work and gave the horse a great ride. Very pleased owners and trainer!

THE DISTANT LADY was probably the most impressive winner of the day. She was given a very slick ride from Tom Bellamy and turning in she was travelling all over her rivals. She kicked on and won by 10 lengths. TDL has shown good form in the past, winning her bumper at Southwell last year, she never got her ground in the winter. She is enjoying the sun on her back and some decent ground.

You can watch replays of both races here.

Both horses were out in the paddock this morning…

Deb visited the yard this morning to see her horse FLANN. She also kindly brought three delicious cakes for the team to eat with their morning coffee. The cakes didn’t last long!

We will be creating an episode of The Martins Hill Mercury this week, we haven’t been making as many during lockdown for obvious reasons, but now that there is more happening we have decided to make a new episode. Keep an eye out on our YOUTUBE and FACEBOOK channels. It will also be linked to our website.

We expect to have a few more runners this week starting tomorrow with LONDONIA who returns to hurdles. Richard Johnson is in the hot seat, lets hope we can keep up the good run!
