Calum Gilhooley, what a brave little horse he is. Yesterday Calum won at Newton Abbot in their Novice Hurdle, delighting all of his owners and us of course! The owners are part of BDR Syndicates, a very well run, fun syndicate… You can find out more about them on our Syndicates page.

Calum and his owners have had to be very patient and it’s really starting to pay off. He’s now two out of two in novice hurdles had yesterday won carrying the 7lb penalty. The races at Newton Abbot were run at a frenetic pace and Calum looked under pressure for quite some time, Kielan gave him a superb ride and the pair stayed on all the way up the home straight, getting in front just as it mattered. A great day…

Londonia also ran at Newton Abbot and ran a very pleasing race to finish 3rd. The horses are in great form at the moment, it’s really lovely to see.

Today we run NORMAN STANLEY at Uttoxeter. This fine big horse won a bumper for us in 2018. He now runs in the Foxtrot Racing colours. It’s hard to know exactly where you are with a horse after a long absence but the main thing is that he has a safe trip. Best of luck to all of his owners!

Calum Gilhooley this morning

On Monday our trip to Perth was not a successful one, although very nearly could of been…

The Distant Lady and Ratfacemcdougall made the long trip to Scotland with Ellie and Issac. The Distant Lady was running a very big race before falling just after the last. She stayed down for a little while as a precaution, on the TV it didn’t look good, we were all extremely worried. The fall she took was a heavy one. Thankfully she got up and was fine, albeit a little sore. She was also out in the paddock this morning.

Racing TV captured a heart warming moment between Issac and TDL. The grooms really love and care for these incredible animals…
