A new blog post and the first of the season!

Isn’t it amazing how quickly everything changes after Aintree? Suddenly we’ve watched the first classic on the flat. Most of our winter horses are now on their holidays, we’ve finally had some rain and now everything is growing. Lots of grass coverage for them.

The summer team have been progressing nicely, many have now had an away day or two to get them to full fitness. Many will be running in the next couple of weeks. We had a lucrative summer last season, let’s hope we can enjoy a similar success this summer.

The likes of Calum Gilhooley and Sammylou were very progressive, regular runners Alexander The Grey and Homing Star will be looking to add to the tally and Jessica Rabbit looks to carry on where she left off.

We have some nice flat horses to run, Eagles Realm and Carrot (Bated Breath 3yo) will make their yard debuts on the flat, while Andaleep, another one who enjoyed a brilliant summer last season bids to again.

We have had a quiet time in terms of runners, but that changes today as we have three runners…

Two runners up at Ayr and one at Fakenham.

Ayr… 1:45 – GETTHEPOT – A horse who we really like, he’s been knocking on the door and probably should of won one. He has improved a lot for a better surface and has given his owners lots of fun since running in handicaps. Hopefully he can pick one up soon and today looks like a good opportunity. He hasn’t done a lot wrong and will be an even better horse as he matures.

2:55 – ASK HENRY – Another horse who has been running well, he really got every yard of the step up in trip last time out. He deserves to win one again soon and today looks like the right race, we’d be hopeful of place chances.

Fakenham…

3:20 – CHAT TO CHARLIE – A gorgeous chestnut who is returning from a long absence. Saying that he’s been busy enough, he’s been in for a little while and was over the road in pre-training at Park Farm before coming to us. He runs in colours that we’ve seen in the winners enclosure a few times in the last 12 months! Max Kendrick rides and hopefully he and Charlie have a safe trip, we’ll learn a little more after today.

Back to news in the yard, there was one highlight last week. We went to Cheltenham to watch the pony racing. Eliza and her pony Monty won and didn’t see another rival, it was a fantastic day.

Eliza has been working really hard and it all paid off, she’s been having lots of help from Lilly Pinchin. Lilly like many NH jockeys used to compete on the pony racing circuit. It’s a brilliant insensitive and great fun!

It doesn’t get much better than a Cheltenham winner…

Hope you all had a great bank holiday!
