It’s been a little while since our last written blog post, but hopefully you all watched our recent episode of The Martins Hill Mercury!
Lots to catch up on…
Last week we went to Lambourn to give Ami Desbois a sight of the Grand National fences. Kielan was very happy with him, he’s always been a brilliant jumper and he took to the fences very well. We need a couple to come out and it looks likely that we should get in. We have a nervous week ahead!
We are planning to release a little video about Ami Desbois National preparation so keep an eye out for that!
The horses have been in good form, although couple of disappointing runs too. AJAY’S WAYS didn’t put it all in at Wetherby, he’s better than that. SKIPTHECUDDLES was running a good race at Ffos Las but sadly he burst a blood vessel and was sensibly pulled up.
Since our cross card double at Newbury and Musselburgh both Dublin Four and Ratfacemcdougall have some out of their races well. Dublin Four went up 9lbs for his victory and Ratfacemcdougall went up a further 11lbs. He will now race off a mark of 133! It’s unbelievable to think he was struggling to win of marks around 30lbs lower last season. Ellie who looks after him at home will claim that it’s her hard work, she’s probably right. Max has also worked out how to ride ‘Ratface’, he gave him a fantasticly positive ride at Musselburgh.
Yesterday we heard the news that Richard Johnson has retired from race riding. The end of an era, AP, Barry, Ruby and now Dicky. The old generation of jockeys were a very special one. Richard is a top ambassador for the sport, a really great man. Enjoy your retirement Dicky!
On to our runners…
We have one runner today at Market Rasen. We run PHIL HEALY in the 1:10 Maiden Hurdle. She is a nice mare and has shown some useful form in bumpers and over hurdles. She showed improvement to finish 3rd last time at Doncaster. Hopefully she has place chances today!
We hope you enjoy the rest of the Bank Holiday weekend. Golf courses are back open so Jodie is a happy man!
