Bank holiday Monday and plenty of activity in the yard this morning…

David and Jackie Adams came to the yard with their friends to watch their horses on the gallop. David and Jackie are big supporters of the yard… Sammylou, Dublin Four, Marble Sands, Prelude to Glory, Barrakhov and Phantonoftheoscar all run in their dark blue and pink silks! David and Jackie also bought the team some wonderful cakes, very much appreciated.

Hannah Bishop was in the yard to see Elk Bridge and Passing Shadow, Hannah is Liz Prowting’s racing manager. They have some lovely horses and we are lucky enough to train three of them. Ask Ben also arrived back in the yard today!

Will Gaskins was in this morning to visit and ride his horse Tb Broke Her. She has recently been sent to us to run under rules after quite a successful point to point career.

Our recent runners were enjoying a morning in the paddock. Hattaab and Follow the Swallow both ran at Fontwell last week. Hattaab ran over fences for the first time and quite frankly it didn’t go to plan. He was slow at his obstacles and lost ground at every fence as a consequence. Hopefully he will learn from the experience. Follow the Swallow is a grand old horse, not many horses retain full enthusiasm for racing at 12 years of age but ‘Swallow’ loves it. He gets on very well with Lilly who usually rides him. He is probably a little high in the handicap at the moment, but ran a nice enough race to come 4th.

Earlier in the week Ask Henry and Alexander The Grey ran at Sedgefield. Ask Henry bumped into a smart horse but ran well to come 2nd. Alexander The Grey was in the process of running a blinder when unseating Lilly two out. Thankfully both horse and jockey were ok, there will be other days.

Follow The Swallow

We will run two horses at Uttoxeter on Wednesday, Homing Star and Jessica Rabbit both run in the Conditional Jockeys Handicap Hurdle. Nobody likes to run two horses in the same race, but both are rated low enough and struggle to get into races. There seems to be high demand for 0-100 handicap hurdles. We’ll take our chance.

The racing world witnessed a new record on Saturday as Hollie Doyle became the first woman ever to achieve a fiver timer on the same card. Hollie is a fantastic jockey and a great ambassador for the sport.

Today is the last day of the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme. I’m sure many of you will be heading out for a meal tonight. If you’re looking for good food remember to visit our ‘Recommended Businesses‘ page to see what local restaurants we enjoy eating at.

Have a great end to your bank holiday weekend!
