A busy weekend full of runners, that’s what we like! Cartmel today, the first day of their three day meeting… a racecourse like no other.
The tradition of racing at Cartmel started back in the 12th century by the monks from Cartmel Priory. Its a small racecourse, however believe it or not Catmel has the 3rd highest average attendance of any jumps racecourse in Britain.
Certain horses love Cartmel and return year after year. The 4 furlong run-in on the steeplechase course is longest in Britain, lots of action on the run-in with horses kicking for home too early!
The winners of each race receive a delicious sticky toffee pudding. Let’s hope we will be coming home with a couple today…
Our runners are Cartmel today are…
3:55 – Ask Henry – He has been running ultra consistently, but frustratingly finishing 2nd each time. He should run well again today if all goes to plan, the long galloping run-in should help him and fingers crossed he can finish in the places.
4:30 – Fleeting Visit – He was progressive over hurdles last summer, winning his last two hurdles starts. He will strip fitter for his run on the AW at Lingfield where he was running on late. Hopefully he can carry on where he left off and finish in the places today. Kielan Woods rides both horses today!
Not many recent runners to report, Alexander The Grey ran at Warwick and hated thr ground. We will wait for some better ground for him.
More runners tomorrow where we expect to see our club horse New Zealander make his seasonal debut, Sammylou is runs again as does Jessica Rabbit. Our recent purchases from the sales are coming on nicely.
Dan and Bradley have been educating both BDR Syndicates Beat Hollow filly and David and Jacqueline Adam’s Pethers Moon gelding. Exciting horses for the future.
There are a few shares still available in the Beat Hollow filly, although they are selling fast. If you’d like to get involved, contact Colin… 07780 607976.
Another all English Champions League final tonight, who wins? Nice that some fans can now attend and hopefully create the atmosphere that we’ve all missed hearing. It’s fantastic to see people back on racecourses. There will be 4,000 at Cartmel today.
Two Birthdays in the yard, very Happy Birthday to Jodie Mogford and Ellie King!
We hope you enjoy your Bank Holiday weekend, best wishes.
