No roar yesterday and the first day of the Cheltenham Featival was certainly a different one this year, but it didn’t disappoint. Some great races, the highlight being the champion hurdle which was won by Honeysuckle in a dominating display. She was ridden by Rachel Blackmore who showed no pressure and gave the mare a brilliant ride!

Other displays of note were Appreciate It in the Supreme and Shiskin in the Arkle. Both superstars for the future, and more on show today!

We have two runners today, both of them at Huntingdon…

1:45 – MISSTHECUDDLES – is a half sister to Skipthecuddles and she has similar traits to him, at home she does everything at her own pace and isn’t a flashy work horse, she does stay though and she showed that at Hexham in atrocious conditions back in September. She is very tough and on the racecourse shows us all the right signs that her mark is workable. She’s had a break and will probably improve on what she does today, saying that we are hopeful she will run a nice race and can be in the places.

4:00 – MARBLE SANDS – This gorgeous son of Martaline is a very popular horse in the yard. He has done nothing wrong in his career so far. He bolted up in a strong Ascot bumper back in October, before running well under a penalty in a listed bumper in December. He is a smart horse with a big future, today won’t be easy, on paper it looks like a nice race. He also has to carry a penalty, but hopefully again he will run well and we’d love to see him being placed if not better!

Tough day at Cheltenham today, we have some more selections to hopefully help you make your decisions…
