With lots of entries this week the team are going to be busy, starting today with three runners!

More about our runners later on, but back to the yard and a couple of new horses arrived last week… ANNUAL REVIEW arrived from Ireland. He is a 5yo gelding by Yeats, a really nice looking sort who has run in a soft ground bumper. He is for sale and photos will surface of him in the coming days.  DAWN TREADER came to us from Sophie Leech, he is a 4yo Siyouni gelding that is a dual purpose prospect. Hopefully a change of scene will help improve him and provide lots of fun days out for his owner James Finch.

Interesting for those of you who keep a close eye on the sales, two high class mares went through the ring recently, both Apples Jade and Laurina were very successful on the racecourse and now be broodmares. We’ll enjoy keeping a close eye on their progeny.

Yesterday was Tuesday and that means one thing… Handicap marks. Yesterdays changes were… Ratfacemcdougall went up a whopping +9lbs (118) for his win at Hereford, Eyeofthescorpion +4lbs (118), Passing Shadow +1lb (101), Skipthecuddles chase mark went down -2lbs (128) Lord Scoundrel was dropped -5lbs (122).

Yesterdays intended runner did not run, a bruised foot for Jessica Rabbit so we will keep our eyes open for future races, her form from her recent win at Doncaster got a boost when Donald Dux, the horse that finished 2nd to her won by 16 Lengths… Jessica Rabbit beating Donald Dux, you couldn’t make it up!

On to our runners, starting today at Newbury where we have three runners…

12:40 – THUNDERSOCKSSUNDAE – A fine looking son of Yeats, he ran a very nice race first time out in a bumper at Ffos Las before getting tired after some sloppy jumping at Doncaster last time out. Back down in trip today and hopefully he will continue learning. He will be a really nice horse in time but he is still quite weak, this is a good looking maiden hurdle today.

1:10 – DUBLIN FOUR – We were delighted with Dublin Four on his chasing debut, he looked like he was just going to keep his head in front before getting caught close to the line. He should improve a little for that run and hopefully a big galloping track like Newbury will help him. This is a tight Handicap chase and there are some useful opposition in here, but we think a lot of this horse and would not be surprised to see him go well.

2:20 – BARRAKHOV – Another runner for David and Jackie Adams (Dublin Four), it’s hard enough watching one of your horses run, let alone two! ‘Buster’ is a real character at home. Quite frankly we didn’t know what to expect on his racecourse debut at Stratford. At home he can be a bit naughty but he was as good as gold at the races. He showed a good attitude to stay on for 5th in his bumper and today is his hurdling debut. Not an easy looking race and he will learn plenty from his first run over hurdles. A nice horse who is hard to gauge, one to keep an eye out for as his career progresses.

To end, Happy Birthday to the legendary Frankie Dettori who turned 50 yesterday!
