Monday, 15th February | Fog | 8°

Monday morning and as usual the horses are fresh, maybe more so than usual… we had such a cold week last week and that meant that most horses only did one canter every day. We were lucky however that we could continue at home, many yards had frozen gallops and had to rely on their neighbours!

There has not been a lot to report recently, the sub zero temperatures led to many race meetings being abandoned. The meeting at Warwick has been rearranged for today and we run one there, the meeting at Newbury that was meant to take place on Saturday now takes place on Sunday this week.

Valentines day yesterday and a different one from most, you have to feel sorry for the hospitality industry at the moment, they’re taking such a hit. It’s really important that we all support out local restaurants and bars when lockdown restrictions are lifted. There are some lovely places to eat here in Stow, especially ‘The Old Butchers‘.

Talking Valentines day, Enable had a date with Kingman

We have one runner today at Warwick, RATFACEMCDOUGALL takes his chances at 4:30 in the 3m2f Handicap Hurdle, Max Kendrick rides him. He has been raised 9lbs for his success at Hereford and that might just show, but he deserves to take his chance. We’re lucky to find a suitable race for him. It’s the first runner we’ve had for 10 days or so!

Let’s hope for a brighter week, with plenty more runners!
