Wednesday, 10th February | Sunny | -3°

F-f-f-freezing morning… -3 at first light and it hasn’t warmed up at all, in fact it feels colder.

Our Andrews Bowen gallop has held up ok after lots of work by Mick on the tractor. Drive and all the paths salted and we were able to give every horse one canter.

All of the horses rugged up and warm, the staff were not so warm. Well done to the team for working through it.

The cold temperates, rain and snow in large areas of the country have contributed to the abandonment of many race meetings. Newcastle and Kempton have stepped in again and provided all weather NH ‘Jumpers Bumpers’, well done to them, lots of entries!

Recent all weather bumper winner, Pop The Champagne heads to Kempton tomorrow…

Yesterday was Tuesday which means one thing, handicap marks… Dawn Treader -1lb (57), Dublin Four -1lb (117) and Phantomoftheoscar has a new mark of 109.

The Cheltenham Festival is around the corner and the recent Dublin Racing festival really set a high standard. Willie Mullins cleaning up as usual, a good couple of days for punters as many favourites won. Really impressive performance from ex English pointer Energumene, he looks like a real Arkle contender. A good advert for British pointing, an industry that has been hard hit this year by Covid-19. Lots of trainers will have nice maidens that they can’t run.

Cold yes but also a stunning morning, see pictures below…

Lets hope for a better week of weather, although it does not look likely!
