The start of a new week and it was quiet in the yard this morning…

Some of the team are off on holiday this week and two of our jockeys, Kielan and Lilly were both off to Southwell to ride our horses this afternoon! Everybody worked hard and got the horses ridden in good time.

The morning was made easier during tea break when we all enjoyed the chocolate brownies that David and Jackie Adams had delivered to us. A very kind gesture, they were delicious!

We run three horses today at Southwell…

Alexander The Grey runs for the second time this summer. He ran well first time out in a hot handicap. He has his regular rider, Lilly, back on today and fingers crossed he runs well. He hasn’t been an easy horse to win with in the past but does often run well.

Missthecuddles runs at 3:15 in the Mares Novices Hurdle. She is very much like her brother Skipthecuddles who we also train. They both don’t show a huge amount at home but certainly show more enthusiasm on the track. She is starting to learn her job and although today might be a bit competitive, she should be winning races in the future.

Londonia is a real favourite in the yard, he has been a great horse for his enthusiastic owners. He ran well last time behind a very well handicapped horse and hopefully he’ll go and enjoy himself today. Again, a competitive looking handicap!

The Goffs Land Rover Sale is due to begin at 10am on Wednesday, although there won’t be many British buyer in attendance. It’s a sign of the times at the moment and a tough one for vendors. Quarantine rules mean that people who have not quarantined in Ireland for 14 days are unable to inspect stock themselves, however there is confidence that British buyers will still be active remotely.

Again a quiet week in terms of runners, we ideally need some rain. All of this sun is lovely up to a point but the ground is very quick at most racecourses at the moment. The seasons seem to get more extreme every year, we have the wettest winter for decades and could find ground that wasn’t heavy anywhere, this summer and we’d love a bit of rain!

Hope you all have a good week, here are some pictures from this morning…
